Mental Health Support with a Difference

Pete Lewin Newfoundlands is renowned for using trained Newfoundland dogs in open-water sessions that provide emotional reassurance and promote recovery. These sessions are designed to:

• Reduce anxiety and symptoms of PTSD

• Build confidence and resilience

• Create a calm, supportive environment for those in need

David took part in one of the many training swims, helping deliver an unforgettable experience for participants and showcasing how engineering professionals can contribute to wellbeing outside the workplace.

Founded by Pete Lewin, a long-serving paramedic with the East Midlands Ambulance Service, the organisation provides emotional support swims and water rescue demonstrations. These sessions are designed to aid individuals, including emergency service personnel, military veterans, and those struggling with mental health issues. Participants engage in open-water swims, where trained Newfoundland dogs assist in creating a calming and supportive environment.
